Alamo Drafthouse Cinema announces their new location opening at 5 th Street Station in Charlottesville, Va. The 33,000-square-foot Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will be the first in the Charlottesville market area and is expected to open in early summer 2017.
In addition to in theatre dining, drinks and upgraded seating with recliner availability, the Charlottesville location will have one of the first Alamo Drafthouse Cinema premium large-format screens in the country, which will include the latest Sony Digital Cinema 4K projection and upgraded digital sound for a truly immersive film experience.
Tim and Karrie League founded Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in 1997 as a single-screen mom and pop repertory theater in Austin. 19 years later, the now 23-location chain has been named “the best theater in America” by Entertainment Weekly and “the best theater in the world” by Wired.com.
